I was just cleaning out our storage room and found a tub FILLED with Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley High books that I have been hoarding since childhood. :) There are more than 50 books in the tub. I have two boys and we're not planning on more children so I don't see any reason to continue to have these collect dust in my basement. Is there any interest in this community for the tub of books for around $30.00? That's around .50/book. They are in EXCELLENT condition. I'll put them up on Craigslist in a day or two, but in the interest of reviving this community I thought I'd offer them here first!

Thoughts on reviving this community. We were once a thriving community and I'd like to see things pick up in here again! Selling/trading is welcome. Passing along fun things to do in the Atlanta area with families would be AWESOME. For example, Last weekend our family took a trip up to the Vines Botanical Gardens for the grand opening of the model train exhibit. We saw the awesome train sets, then strolled through the botanical gardens which were FREE to enter. The kids loved seeing the geese, ducks, turtles and fish in the ponds. It was a beautiful day and a really fun outing for the family. Check it out and scroll down for regular season hours:

I'm not certain what an AR level is or if I'm reading your sentence incorrectly, but the "Twins" books are way too mature for 3.4-4.5 year old kids! I was a very advanced reader as a young kid (about on the level of your daughter at her age) and read the "Twins" books when I was in early elementary school and the "High" books in later elementary, just because I liked the stories and they were relevant to my age. I think for pure enjoyment reading the "Twin" books would be perfect for your daughter's age and are age appropriate content. The "High" books, while VERY VERY conservative by today's standards, might still be a little mature for a 1st grader and would be better suited for a 3rd or 4th grader. That would be my opinion, anyway! Also, the newer version of these books (they were reprinted/rereleased recently) have been updated and are not as "wholesome" as the originals.

That's my personal take on them. :) If you think this would suit your daughter, I'd love to see them go to a local girl who would love them as much as I did!

AR (accelerated reader) is a scholastic publisher program that rates book by reading level so kids can more easily grab books that are in their target reading range. So the 3.4-4.5 is grade level, not age. My daughter is going into 3rd grade this fall so maybe they will be a good fit for some fun summer reading!? Like I said, the twins books will be too low for her to get school credit, but she may enjoy them for rainy days or reading a book in the porch swing!

I think she would adore them for fun summer reading. I have such fond memories of reading them on my school breaks as a little girl! And if you wanted the lot you could always put the "High" books up until she's a little older, too.

Well, then I'll buy them from you! It'll have to be next week though, as I'm hosting 15 girl scouts in my backyard for a camp out tonight and will need the rest of the weekend to recover!

That's perfectly fine, I have date night with my husband tonight and a busy busy weekend with family coming to visit from Maine. You can message me here on LJ or email me at gabesmom@gmail.com when your schedule opens up and we can set a time to meet up. :)

Probably week days, but later in the day on weekends works too. When are you free?

Weekdays are good, I'm a little busier next week than usual because I have a Dr. appt., my son's OT appt., and I am going out of town Friday. Here's what I do have:

Tuesday: free after 1:30 pm
Wednesday: free before 12:30pm or after 2:15pm
Thursday: free between 9:30am and 1:30pm (my kids' camp hours)

Does any of that work for you or should we skip to the next week (which is much more open)?
